E-invoicing, done as you invoice.

Nigeria’s e-invoicing rules require business invoices to be validated, signed and reported to the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS, formerly FIRS). Vendex does each step as part of creating the invoice, so compliance isn’t a separate job at the end of the month.

Anatomy of an example Invoice Reference Number, and the three things that happen to every invoice: validation, signing and transmission.

What an e-invoice needs. And who does the work.

Invoice Reference Number

A unique identifier for every invoice: invoice number, Service ID and date.

Vendex generates it when the invoice passes validation.

Digital signature

Each invoice is cryptographically signed, so it can be shown not to have changed.

Vendex signs with the keys issued to your business.

QR code

A scannable code with the IRN, issue time, both TINs, amounts and signature hash.

Vendex adds it to every invoice and prints it on the PDF.

Reporting to the NRS

The invoice is transmitted to the NRS within 24 hours.

Vendex sends it through a certified Access Point Provider and updates the status on confirmation.

Structured data and codes

Invoices follow the approved UBL 2.1 schema, with the right HSN or service code on every item.

Vendex builds to the schema and lets you search approved codes by keyword.

Audit trail

Invoice data and its history are kept and can be produced on request.

Vendex logs every creation, change, transmission attempt and result with a timestamp.

Six steps between “create” and “confirmed”. All of them automatic.

  1. Step 1

    Validate

Fields, formats, codes and tax checked against the schema.

  2. Step 2

    Issue the IRN

From your invoice number, Service ID and the date.

  3. Step 3

    Sign

Invoice data hashed and signed with your private key.

  4. Step 4

    Add the QR code

A verification code placed on the invoice PDF.

  5. Step 5

    Transmit

Encrypted and sent through a certified Access Point Provider.

  6. Step 6

    Confirm

The invoice status updates as soon as the NRS confirms it.
